The club was founded in 1991 as bc botinec when a couple of basketball enthusiasts formed the club and the journey began. In the early years, the club made its way through lower levels of competition in Croatia, finally making its way to the Croatian first division in 2002. During those years of ascending through lower levels, the club added Hiron to its name, the name of the company which became a major sponsor in 1996, and established a business culture in the club’s management.
Once that goal was realized, the organization set its sights on higher goals – European competitions and the regional Adriatic League – while remaining financially prudent. A European breakthrough came after the first season in the first division, the fiba cup was reached in season 2003/04, while the Adriatic League was still out of reach. The quest for a spot in the Adriatic League in the upcoming seasons continued, and probably would have remained a dream until the summer of 2005 when Atlantic Grupa became a general sponsor, renaming the club to bc cedevita.
BC Cedevita became the powerhouse of croatian basketball
winning 5 championships, 7 Krešimira Ćosić cups and 2 Dražen Petrović cups
In what is now a 10+ year strong bond, the club became a Croatian powerhouse - winning 3 championships, the 4 national cups and 2 supercups - while also reaching the Adriatic League finals 3 times. Europe also got to know bc cedevita after an amazing 2011 Eurocup run which ended with winning 3rd place in the Final 4 in Treviso. bc cedevita is a regular member of the Euroleague – the best basketball league in Europe - having played there 3 times in the last 4 seasons, and reaching the top 16 in the 2015/16 season which stands out as a great achievement.
